The amount of animal road kill is pretty high. The number of deaths in a 5 1/2- year study was almost 33 thousand, and that included only frogs and snakes on U.S. 441 and I-75. The main cause of all this is rain. When the rain starts to cause flooding, the water builds up beside the highway. Then the animals are forced to go there also and the road kill situation gets bad.
