The Science Connection: Iron Oxide Experiment


1. Record the beginning temperature on the data chart.


2. Put the steel wool inside the vinegar for 30 seconds.


3. Squeeze out the vinegar until it doesn't drip.


4. Wrap the steel wool around the bottom of the thermometer and attach it with a rubber band.


5. Hang the thermometer on the inside of the jar using the tape.


6. Close the lid.


7. Record the temperature inside the jar every 2 minutes.
