VR Movie: South Beach Art Deco District

View of South Beach's famous Art Deco district from the corner of Ocean Drive and Seventh Street. The six hotels in this VR from left to right include Park Central, Imperial, Majestic, Avalon, Beacon, and Colony. The Park Central Hotel was built in 1937, Henry Hohauser, architect. The Imperial Hotel (1939) next door uses the same popular color scheme of blue, green, and white. The Majestic (1940) was designed by Albert Anis. The Avelon (1941) was also designed by Anis. The horizontal emphasis is typical of buildings built in the Streamline modern style. The Beacon was built in 1936. The Colony (1935) was also designed by Hobauser and features a prominent neon sign.
