Interior of the "Death Cell" at the Risiera di San Sabba. The Risiera was constructed in 1913 as a rice-husking factory in San Sabba on the outskirts of Trieste, Italy. In 1943, German occupation forces converted the factory into a prison camp.

This four story dormitory housed prisoners awaiting transport to Germany. It also housed the laundry, storerooms for confiscated property, and a dress-making room where prisoners worked.
