Podcasting for Students

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

This is a great way to integrate technology into the mathematics classroom.  Research shows that students enjoy learning from each other.  Assigning projects is an excellent way to differentiate instruction.  Assign students  a topic and have them create a podcast about the topic.  They can upload it to the web and others can learn from their work.  They can also present their podcasts in class so the rest of the students can learn a new skill or review an old one.  For help getting started and to dowload software, visit podcasting page under Standards & Software.

Podcasting for Teachers

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Podcasts are a great way for teachers to communicate mathematics!  Teachers can create podcasts of topics/lessons and upload them to the web for students to view.  What a great way to handle make-up work!  Teachers can explain procedures and work out examples in their podcasts.  Then, students can view them from home.  Remember…. podcasts can have video in addition to audio!  Need help getting started?  Visit Standards & Sofwarefor a list of free software you can download.  To listen to math specific podcasts that were created for professional development for teachers, visit Make Math Matter at iTunes U.
