Spaghetti Bridges
Linear Equations: Making Predictions

Making Predictions

  • In this activity students began by conducting trials to determine how many pennies would break one, two or three pieces of spaghetti

  • After the trials, they drew a graph that represented the number of pennies required

  • Then they came up with an equation that matched the graph

  • With the equation they were able to predict the number of pennies that would be needed to break many more pieces of spaghetti
