The burgonet, the successor to the earlier salet, was a simple helmet also often accompanied by a bevor. The bevor is a piece of armor separate from the helmet worn to protect the neck and face.

A gambison, padded jack, or arming coat was a type of light padded armor, made from linen or wool, worn either by itself or under heavier plate or maille armor.
