My Favorite Tree Scrapbook

screencap of FCIT Tree Distribution Maps

Resource: Florida Tree Distribution Maps

ACTIVITY

Using the tree distribution map, students will choose a favorite tree from the list and do library research concerning average height, lifespan, water needs, etc. Students will also find out what type of environment it needs to grow. Finally, students will make a scrapbook of a particular tree's life. The student (or group) must decide what year this tree was born and detail events in its life (did an unexpected frost hit it during its years, a fire, etc.) The scrapbook should be anywhere from 4 - 12 pages long and needs to include pictures or drawings of the tree.
