Plötzensee Memorial Center

Plötzensee Memorial Center, Berlin

At this site, hundreds of people died as victims of judicial murder during the years of Hitler's dictatorship from 1933 to 1945 because they fought against the dictatorship for human rights and political freedom. Among them were members of all social classes and almost every nation. With this memorial center, Berlin honors the millions of victims of the Third Reich who were defamed, miltreated, deprived of their freedom, or murdered because of their political convictions, religious beliefs, or racial ancestry."
--Ernst Reuter, mayor of Berlin, 1951
