Virtual Reality Movies: Dachau

Each panorama movie is available in two file sizes. The small movies display at the same size on your computer screen as the large movies, but the small movies do not allow you to zoom in on as much detail as the large movies do. All movies are a full circle (360 degrees) unless noted otherwise. Dachau Appellplatz 356 K 900 K This movie was shot from the center of the Appellplatz (roll call square). It opens with a view of the "International Memorial" in front of the Wirtschoftsbebäude housing the kitchen, laundry, storage rooms, and the "shower baths" where the SS would torture prisoners by flogging and hanging them at the stake. Dachau Barracks Bunks 136 K 892 K Three-tiered bunk beds inside one of the two reconstructed barracks at Dachau. The original barracks were torn down in 1964. Two barracks were reconstructed at that time. Dachau Barracks Lockers 156 K 836 K Wooden lockers inside one of the two reconstructed barracks at Dachau. The original barracks were torn down in 1964. Two barracks were reconstructed at that time. Dachau Bunker 240 K 1 MB To the left is the rear of the Wirtschaftsgebäude, which contained the kitchen, laundry, storage rooms, and torture rooms. To the right is the Lagerarrest or Bunker. This functioned as the camp prison. Two guard towers and the Jourhaus (gatehouse) are also visible in this panorama. The long, low building just to the left of the Wirtschaftsgebäude is one of two reconstructed barracks on the site. Dachau Center of Camp 524 K 936 K When the memorial site was established, the barracks were derelict and had to be demolished. All that remains are the foundations. Dachau Crematorium Exterior 300 K 1 MB The Large Crematorium (Baracke X) was constructed in 1942. The original Small Crematorium is barely visible behind some bushes opposite the Large Crematorium. Dachau Crematorium Interior 608 K 1.2 MB The Large Crematorium (Baracke X) was constructed in 1942 when the original smaller crematorium was no longer adequate. The view is from the open doors to the crematorium. Dachau Memorials 328 K 868 K This veiw opens on the Protestant memorial, to the right is the Roman Catholic memorial, and further to the right is the Jewish memorial.
