Exploring the Geography of Europe

Objectives
- To name the countries of Europe
- To locate the countries of Europe
- To place the countries of Europe in the correct position
Procedure
- Distribute laptops and instructions
- Have students log on using their student user name and password, this will enable them to view “Mr. Guy’s Links” under the Favorites menu.
- Using the appropriate link (www.sheppardsoftware.com) the students will be examining the Geography of Europe and learning the locations of it nations.
- First, the students will begin on the L LEVEL (learning level) to learn the proper pronunciation and location of each nation.
- After they have completed the L LEVEL they are to continue on to the next level (1) and attempt to correctly complete it. I usually require a certain percentage be answered correctly to move onto the next level. Beginning this project I required 70%. As we went on I raised it to as high as 90%.
- This activity is designed for each student to work at their own pace and judge their own comprehension of the material

Materials
- Laptops, at least two carts (32 all together)
- Instructions
- LCD projector to model correct implementation of the activity
Alternatives/Extensions
- For ESE students I typically let them keep a copy of a map they created to use as a reference while doing this.
