  • Students will extend, generalize, recognize, and write a variety of patterns using an AppleWorks template.


  • Using a template, have students complete patterns.
  • For example, if the pattern is red square, green square, red square, green square, what color square comes next?
  • The students would use the fill tool to fill the last blank square red.

  • Choose from the following tools:
  • AppleWorks
  • Microsoft Word
  • Inspiration
  • Kidspiration


  • Students can make their own patterns to test their partners.
  • This activity could also be done in Kidspiration using different pallettes. The teacher can also create their own pallettes to make the patterns more personalized.
