The first time I got wounded, I was hit in the head, and that didn't hurt me. The next time, a bullet went through my thigh. I remember we got caught in an ambush and most of the platoon was annihilated. There were only about six out of sixty soldiers who could walk back. We were ambushed after walking through a rice paddy. The enemy had set up a booby trap in a coconut tree with napalm bombs instead of coconuts. They set off 115 artillery shots and wiped out a lot of people. Then, they started shooting at us, and immediately there where about 10 or 12 killed.
