Stephanie Bridges:
Growing up on an army base
Clip 1
It is difficult to describe what it's like to grow up on an army base; it's a different world. Kids learn respect for the country, the flag, and the soldiers from the time they start walking. By kindergarten, you know how to fold the flag. By tenth grade, you know the proper respect for the flag, you know to respect people in uniform. When you grow up with that and live with it on a daily bases, it makes a difference and it stays with you. I go to a parade at Christmas time with my kids and the war veterans walk by with flags, and you see kids and twenty year olds just sitting there watching them walk by. Then, you see people like myself or Mr. Murray who stand up, or salute them, or clap for them and say thank you.
