We started a hospital in Saigon and it was a beautiful thing. I was a project officer and my job was to make sure the dental school would meet American standards. Vietnam was a different war all together. We set out to win the hearts and minds of the people and run off the communists. I was never in any battles. Some people will tell you they weren't even in the war.
