Student: How was boot camp in the Marines?
Alex: Boot camp was pretty tough.

Student: I'm sure, the Marines is a pretty tough branch to get in to.
Alex: Well, first of all, as a civilian, you're not used to taking orders. Second, if you play sports you're in fairly good physical condition; if you don't play sports, you're in no kind of physical condition at all. Boot camp takes civilians and turns them into Marines. So yes, getting in to the Marines was pretty hard.

Student: Did you have a problem with it?
Alex: Yes, I did. Everyone had a problem with it. There were some nights where you put it in your head that you could do anything that you wanted to do as long as you tried hard. I guess I did OK.
