Al Doyle:
The Cambodians
Clip 5
Meanwhile, in Cambodia, over here [points to map], next to Vietnam, they were having a similar type of insurrection. The communists were trying to overthrow the government. A lot of Cambodians and their families were escaping across the border into Vietnam because Vietnam didn't bother the Cambodians; they weren't natives of the country, they werenÕt citizens of Vietnam. So, the Cambodian government exile asked Special Forces Headquarters if we would like to use their young men so we could train them, arm them, and later help them to overthrow their country. The Cambodians had darker skin than the Vietnamese, and were shorter and stockier. A lot of them spoke French because they fought with the French in the Indochina Wars. It worked out really well.
