"Baptism by fire"
Clip 1
I was assigned to a squad and to a fire team. A lance corporal was the fire team leader and there were three of us assigned to him. The other three members of this fire team had been killed. He told us, "You do exactly what I say, when I say, and how I say, and maybe, maybe, you'll come out of this alive." That was my baptism of fire because when the bullets star flying at your feet, and you hear them zinging past your head, and they're hitting rocks beside you, and you're seeing people beside you being killed, it becomes real. This isn't playing cowboys and indians like when we were kids, and when you were done playing, everyone got up and went home. Not the case, not the case in war. Everybody dies horrible deaths when they are killed. It is something that lives with you forever.
