Ditinno: The
Depression
Clip 2
Mr. Murray:You lived through
the depression?
Mr. Larue: Yes, I did.
Mr. Murray: You were a teenager then?
Mr. Larue: I remember going to school with cardboard in my shoes.
Mr. Murray: Really.
Mr. Larue: That's right.
Mr. Murray: What did your father do for a living?
Mr. Larue: He was an accountant.
Mr. Murray: Was he able to keep his job throughout the whole
depression?
Mr. Larue: Yes, but he only made $15-$20 a week. We had
to live on that.
Mr. Murray: Did your mother work?
Mr. Larue:No. Women couldn't get jobs during that time.
