MacIntire: Dream sheet
Clip 1
When I joined the Navy, I put in for submarine school because I was from Massachusetts and my uncle had been on submarines in New London, Connecticut which was nearby. I decided I wanted to be on a submarine and stay out of Vietnam. I was supposed to go to submarine school out of boot camp and one of my mistakes was filling in what they called a dream sheet - a form that asked where you wanted to go, what you wanted to do, what your hobbies were, etc. One of my hobbies was cooking. You can tell I'm not a lightweight, but back then I was (makes a motion with his hands that he was thin) and you can tell by my original ID that I was pretty thin back then. I love to cook and still do, but I like to eat a lot more than cook right now. They put me in as a cook in the Navy going to Vietnam, which totally shocked my family, myself and everybody else.
