We were driving in a convoy from one location to another and were ambushed. We got out of the truck and fought. An ambush is something the enemy can use when they can't beat you face to face. The Americans had all this fire power and the Vietnamese were fighting a guerilla war - they would hit you and then they'd run. They would never stay there and fight you one on one because they'd lose, they'd get wiped out. So, they would plan things like ambushes to hit you real quick and then disperse.
