Veith: A red glow
Clip 2
There were riots after Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot and my post was 20 miles from Baltimore and 19 miles from Washington, D.C. They called in the National Guard and D.C. police and basically the rioters overran them. So, they called us out at 3:00a.m., and I could see the city burning in the distance. There was a red glow in both directions - Baltimore was on fire and Washington, D.C. was on fire.
