I was with this guy named Jack Christianson who had returned from Vietnam a month prior. We were patrolling this little border and we came under fire from somebody on top of an eight story building. Jack looked at me and said, "This is yours because I just spent 12 months in Nam without getting shot and I'm not going to come back here and get shot by a U.S. citizen." As it turned out, the federal marshals apprehended the shooter because he only had a 22 pistol.
