Beginning in 1964, USF College of Education students participated in the Intercollegiate Student Exchange Program with students from USF having a choice of attending the University of Massachusetts or the University of New Mexico for a semester. University of Massachusetts and University of New Mexico students were able to enroll in College of Education classes at USF for a semester as well. Dr. Jean Battle, first Dean of the College of Education stated in his 50-Year Oral History that students from the University of Massachusetts and later those from the University of Maine were eager to come to Florida for the Winter semester. He said that this program was a successful experiences for all students involved.
