Overview of the Lesson

Guess:

  • How many drops of water do you think a heads-up penny will hold?

Gather the Data:

  • Count how may drops it will actually hold

Record the data:

  • Record the number of drops the heads-up penny held
  • Find the mean, median, mode and range for the class
  • Create a stem-and-leaf plot of the class data
  • Use the data to create a box and whisker plot

Analyze the data:

  • Do the same activity with the tails-up penny
  • Compare the results from both sides of the penny
