Drancy Transit Camp Memorial

The monument marks an escape tunnel dug by 70 prisoners working in three teams. Beginning in September 1943, the prisoners worked day and night on the tunnel. It had reached a length of 36 meters before it was discovered by the Nazis in November 1943. The prisoners were 3 meters from freedom.
