z_index_tablet=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2>Survey Tool<\/h2>\n<p>The Survey Tool was added to the TIM Tools suite in response to client requests for a quick method of creating forms, surveys, and reports within a school or district&#8217;s TIM Tools instance. As with the other tools in the TIM Tools suite, the site header carries the school or district branding. Clients can now create surveys to share with teachers, administrators, observers, or the general public. The Internal Survey Builder menu showing existing internal surveys and the box to enter the title of a new survey.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>TIM site administrators have access to the Survey Maker where they can start a new survey or continue editing an old survey. For data integrity purposes, once a survey is made live and has collected at least one response, it can no longer be edited. It can, however, be cloned and the clone edited if further modifications are desired.<\/p>\n<p>A setting for each survey allows participation to be restricted to TIM Tools members only or opened to the general public. Participation in member surveys can further be targeted by role: administrators only, administrators and observers only, or all members. Surveys intended for the general public can be made available to anyone or only to those participants with an access code.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Survey Tool allows for five question types: free text response, multiple choice, multiple response, agreement scale, and frequency scale. Future versions of the Survey Tool may include additional question types depending on feedback. Each question type is very flexible. Additional information can be added to any question. Each question can be designated as required or not required, multiple choice and multiple response questions support any number of response options, and the number and labels for both scale questions are completely customizable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fcit.usf.edu\/matrix\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/QuestionEditor.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><i>Figure 2. It\u2019s a means to inject titles, headings, additional directions, charts, or images into the flow of questions at any point. Survey creators have access to a <a href=\"https:\/\/fcit.usf.edu\/matrix\/project\/survey-parts-and-pieces\/\">special collection of graphics<\/a> we&#8217;ve created for use in their surveys.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fcit.usf.edu\/matrix\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SurveyBitsCollage.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><i>Figure 3. Samples from the collection of graphics for use in the Survey Tool.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Each survey automatically includes an introduction and closing page with completely customizable text and images if desired.<\/p>\n<p>Survey results are downloadable in a spreadsheet format that includes the respondent\u2019s ID if a TIM Tools member and a participant\u2019s IP address if a member of the general public so multiple responses can be filtered. Each submission is also time and date stamped.<\/p>\n<p>Included with the Survey Tool is a starter library of surveys available for immediate use or for customization. The library includes survey types frequently utilized by districts including: bullying, volunteers, school climate, home technology, and workshop evaluation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i>Adult Volunteer Survey:<\/i> Use this form to solicit volunteers in a school or district. The survey is available in long and short forms.<\/li>\n<li><i>Beginning of Year Student Information Form:<\/i> This form allows parents to provide information about their child directly to the child&#8217;s teacher(s).<\/li>\n<li><i>Campus Technology Coordinator Survey:<\/i> This survey collects information about the technology resources at each school in a district. The survey is available in both long and short forms.<\/li>\n<li><i>Cyberbullying Report:<\/i> This form is for reporting cyberbullying only. For reporting incidents of other types of bullying or incidents that combine cyberbullying with other other types, use one of the other available report forms.<\/li>\n<li><i>End-of-Year Technology Checklist:<\/i> Classroom technology checklist to be completed by teachers before summer vacation.<\/li>\n<li><i>Family-School Partnership Survey:<\/i> This survey allows parents and guardians to provide feedback regarding our family-school partnership.<\/li>\n<li><i>Home Technology Survey:<\/i> This survey provides important information to a school or district about the level of technology access in their students&#8217; homes. The survey is available in both long and short forms.<\/li>\n<li><i>Mentoring Log:<\/i> Observers can use this form to record mentoring sessions.<\/li>\n<li><i>Scheduling Poll by Hour:<\/i> Use this quick poll to find best days\/times for meetings, calls, and other events.<\/li>\n<li><i>Scheduling Poll by Period:<\/i> Use this quick poll to find best days\/periods for meetings, calls, and other events.<\/li>\n<li><i>School Bullying Report :<\/i> Use this form to report incidents of physical, verbal, social, or cyberbullying at our school, on school transportation, or at school events regardless of location. The survey is available in long, medium, and short forms.<\/li>\n<li><i>School Climate Survey for Students:<\/i> This short survey gives students the opportunity to share their feelings about their teachers, peers, and the school as a whole.<\/li>\n<li><i>Teacher Access to Technology:<\/i> This survey allows teachers to report access to technology in their classrooms.<\/li>\n<li><i>Technology Integration Supports &amp; Challenges:<\/i> This short survey for teachers identifies the supports and challenges they face when integrating technology into their instruction.<\/li>\n<li><i>Workshop Evaluation:<\/i> Participants may use this form to evaluate a workshop or other PD session they participated in. User records can be added in batches or individually. Survey responses can be downloaded at any time for review. You can offer the survey any number of times and track completion of any user.\r\n\r\nThe survey data helps to target professional development efforts to meet the needs of teachers in your school or district. The survey helps identify how well prepared teachers are to integrate technology in meaningful ways. It also helps identify the technology professional development topics that teachers want and need.\r\n\r\nThe TUPS is the perfect tool to use annually, or at the beginning and end of any technology project to measure the changes in how teachers relate to technology in their work. Grant administrators can use pre and post comparisons for grant evaluation reports. It supports teacher inquiry by providing the teacher with a tool for recording changes in classroom usage of technology. The information is also useful for planning technology infrastructure and support and getting a snapshot of the perceptions of teachers.\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\n<img src=\"https:\/\/fcit.usf.edu\/matrix\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/TUPS1.png\">\r\n<i>Figure 1: In addition to the seven sections of questions, the TUPS also includes a demographic and background section, which can be turned on or off.<\/i>\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\nSurvey participants can log into their TIM Tools account and complete the survey sections in any order. If they log out before completing all sections, when they log back an again, they can pick up where they left off. Some districts prefer to break the survey into multiple parts, for example they could administer the demographics and first three question sections during one month and then administer the remaining four sections during the following month. The TUPS is designed to provide complete flexibility for the client. In addition to turning sections on or off, individual questions can also be turned on or off. Furthermore, each individual question can be easily customized. For example, the TUPS refers to a district's \"technology specialists\" at one point.
