It was added to the TIM Tools suite at the request of client districts. Many districts were using the TIM-O as a tool for teachers to reflect upon their own lesson in addition to an observation tool. They found this to be a very valuable exercise for teachers, but in earlier versions of TIM Tools, doing so required making every teacher in the district an observer so that they could observe themselves. In addition to the inconvenience of making every teacher in the district an observer, the use of the TIM-O for reflection resulted in a TIM-O database where observations and reflections\u00a0were intermixed. Districts can now use the TIM-R for teacher lesson reflection and not have reflection data intermixed with actual observation data when they generate reports. The TIM-O and TIM-R can be used in conjunction with each other. For example, an observer might request that teachers to complete a TIM-R reflection on the same lessons in which they were observed. The observation profile and comments can be compared with the reflection profile and comments in a follow-up conference as a starting point for a conversation about the lesson.<\/p>\n To begin a reflection, from the Main Menu<\/strong> select My Reflection Tool (TIM-R)<\/strong>. The TIM-R opens to the Dashboard<\/strong> screen.<\/p>\n Figure 1. The TIM-R Dashboard. There are two previous reflections by this teacher.<\/em><\/p>\n From the Dashboard<\/strong>, a teacher can begin a new reflection; edit, delete, or toggle the publication state of previous reflections, edit the teacher’s My TIM-R Notes, or download a spreadsheet of previous reflections.<\/p>\n To begin a new reflection, click New Reflection<\/strong> in the TIM-R<\/strong> menu. The new reflection opens in a new tab and first gives the teacher the choice of a Question-based<\/strong> or a Matrix-based<\/strong> reflection.<\/p>\n A teacher choosing the\u00a0Question-based<\/strong> method, will be asked the same series of branching questions about the lesson as is included in a regular TIM-O observation. A teacher choosing the Matrix-based<\/strong> method will be taken directly to a Matrix allowing the direct selection of levels for each of the five characteristics. When the TIM profile is complete using either method, the teacher can select Notes and Comments<\/strong> from the TIM-R menu to add a personal reflection to the report.<\/p>\n Teachers can add links to supporting artifacts on the Document Links<\/strong> screen. Any number of documents can be linked.<\/p>\n Reflections can be previewed from the Reflection Preview<\/strong> screen. A Download or Print PDF of Results<\/strong> button is available for the preview.<\/p>\n If the teacher is satisfied with the preview, the Close Reflection<\/strong> button should be clicked to close the tab and return to the Dashboard<\/strong>. The new reflection will appear on the list of previous reflections with its publication status set to Not Published<\/strong>. The reflection will not be available to administrators or be included in reports until its status is changed to Published<\/strong>. Any reflection on the list can be edited, deleted, or have its publication status toggled between Not Published and Published.<\/p>\n Teachers may use the My TIM-R Notes<\/strong> field to record questions about the lesson they wish to discuss with their coaches, set personal goals, record strategies they plan to try in the future, or any other notes to self. \nThe TIM-O is designed to guide principals, teachers, and others through the process of evaluating the level of technology integration within a particular lesson and helps provide a clear picture of the professional development needed to support further technology integration. Two variations of the TIM-O are available within TIM Tools. The TIM-R allows for teacher reflection and the TIM-LP is used for lesson plan review.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

\nThe TUPS is the perfect tool to use annually, or at the beginning and end of any technology project to measure the changes in how teachers relate to technology in their work. It supports teacher inquiry by providing the teacher with a tool for recording changes in classroom usage of technology. The information is also useful for planning technology infrastructure and support and getting a snapshot of the perceptions of teachers.<\/p>\n

\nThe ARTI tool provides a framework for teachers to design and conduct their own action research projects. ARTI takes teachers through the five basic steps of an action research project including: identification of a question, description of the context, data collection, analysis, and the creation of findings.<\/p>\n

\nThe Report Tool allows a school or district to create new reports using the Report Builder. Choose the option to create new TIM-LP, TIM-O, TIM-R, or TUPS reports. Use the Report Tool Dashboard to review the number of complete, incomplete, published, and unpublished reports in your system. View all previous reports, along with newly created reports, in the Report List.<\/p>\n

\nThe Survey Tool allows a school or district to create surveys on new topics as needed. The surveys can be offered to TIM members only or made available to the general public. Surveys can be built from scratch or users can start with a survey from the included library of sample surveys.<\/p>\n
