      Taylor:
My first night in Vietnam
Clip 1
At about what I call o'dark thirty, which is about two o'clock in the
morning, I heard thunder and bombs going off and things exploding. I woke up and saw people running
around, yelling and screaming. I didn't have a weapon or anything. Then
this soldier comes by and says, "Grab that ammo." I picked
it up and I said, "Where are we going?" He pointed to
where all the commotion was. I said, "No, no, I don't want to go
out there." I think I started crying. I figured that's it for
  me.
I 'd been in Vietnam one day and I 'm going to get killed the first night here. But
no, we didn't go.
Student:
How old were you that night?
  Taylor:
I was eighteen and that was my first time seeing
live combat; I'll never forget that. I just figured
that's the end of my life, that 's it.
