Number Notes
This strategy helps students identify the main idea and its supporting details by assigning them numbers.
- The teacher introduces the structure to be followed.
- The teacher models with students how to use number notes by first using only words, not sentences.
ex. 1: dinosaurs
2: meat-eaters
3: sharp teeth
3: sharp claws
2: plant-eaters
3: tall
3: short- The teacher continues modeling using a text, and writing sentences instead of words.
- For independent practice, write structure on board, have students complete and then share.
