Active Learning: Measuring the Bug Real-world situations give students a chance to use measuring tools correctly. Students estimate the size of the bug then measure it with the meter stick. The bug is released and allowed to run for 10 seconds. The distance the bug has traveled is measured. The students record this distance on their recording sheet.
