Description: This is a map showing fluoride content of water from the upper limestone of the Floridian aquifer in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, current to 1967. "Water from the upper limestone, in the red colored area, contains so little fluoride that it would not have a significant effect on teeth. Water in the upper limestone, in the blue colored area, has enough fluoride to be generally beneficial to the development of decay resistant teeth in children. Water in the green area would be beneficial by reducing tooth decay but may cause mottled enamel (dental fluorosis) in some cases.
