Entrance to the Coral Castle south of Miami, Florida. This large complex of carefully placed coral rocks was first built ten miles away in Florida City by Ed Leedskalnin. Leedskalnin was a master stone mason, and led a mostly private and simple life in south Florida. Though just five feet tall and one hundred pounds, he managed to quarry, sculpt, and assemble 1,100 tons of coral rock using only the simplest metal tools.
Ed Leedskalnin requested that his visitors pay ten cents to view the castle.

The Florida Table. This table was carved in the shape of the State of Florida. It includes a carved bowl that represents Lake Okeechobee at the center of the state.
The Polaris Telescope. The crossed wires indicate the location of the North Star at night.
The Polaris Telescope (to the left) and the Moon Fountain (to the right) at Coral Castle.
The Moon Fountain at the Coral Castle represents three phases of the moon. The rock at left represents the first quarter phase, the rock at right is the last quarter phase, and the fountain represents the full moon.
The numbered loops on the sun dial represent hours. The loops without numbers represent half hours.
