Appendix A: FIRN PPP setup parameters

These are the basic conÞguration settings needed to connect to FIRN via PPP. SpeciÞc examples can be found in this booklet and at http://www.Þrn.edu/connectivity/remote/firn-set.html

Subnet Mask:	Not needed
Domain Name:	firn.edu
Domain Name Server:	150.176.12.50 (primary) 128.227.128.24 (secondary)
Baud Rate (bps):	115,200 bps for 56 modem 57,600 bps for 28.8 modem
Parameters:	8 data bits; No parity; 1 stop bit
Flowcontrol:	Hardware
COM Port:	Hardware communications port where modem is attached. For Windows, the external modem is generally COM1 and the internal modem is generally COM2.
Connect Timeout:	60 seconds
