Documentaries

During the week of June 29 – July 3, 2009, the Florida Humanities Council invited fifteen teachers from Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties to gather on the campus of USF St. Petersburg for a five-day seminar titled “Florida Goes to War: The Sunshine State in WWII.” Led by historian Gary Mormino, the seminar introduced teachers to World War II from a Florida perspective.

The seminar provided intense historical content paired with training on some of the latest digital classroom technologies. An instructor from the Florida Center for Instructional Technology trained participants on the use of digital movie-making software, and each teacher was required to create a documentary on a topic touched upon during the week-long seminar.

Below are samples of the remarkable work created in just four days by the teachers that participated in the seminar, many of whom had no previous technological training.
