"Cà d'Zan" means "House of John" in a Venetian dialect of Italian. The mediterranean design of the home was inspired by John and Mable Ringling's favorite hotels in Venice, Italy.

The Cà d'Zan is topped by a 60-foot tower which was usually kept illuminated at night.
