Question
1:
Schools in the U.S. are becoming more diverse. More students from diverse backgrounds are coming to school, while fewer teachers are. Among the latter, still fewer have sufficient training for teaching ESOL students. An area of difficulty that ESOL students face is that classes assume mastery of knowledge and skills from previous curricula and base instruction upon this. Unfortunately, many ESOL students have not had opportunities to master these skills and knowledge. Keeping these things in mind, describe briefly (1) the training experiences in teaching ESOL students that you have had or in which you are engaged, and (2) the important points and aspects of ESOL that all in-service and pre-service teachers, as well as teacher educators, need to know.
