Description: Sarah Kaplan was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps who served under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge as a nurse. She was discharged in [February] 1946. Her husband Samuel Kaplan was the first doctor to practice in Venice [Florida] and later became instrumental in starting the first hospital there. The Kaplans came to Venice in 1949 and for decades were the only Jews who lived there.
