Faculty Achievements in Administrative Leadership
- Dr. Rita Bruce, Secondary Education
- Dr. Bruce joined the College of Education in 1971 to develop the Health Education Program. In 1984, she joined the newly opened USF College of Public Health. And in 1985, she was appointed as Associate Dean for Programs of the College of Public Health. She served in that position until her retirement in the late 1990s.
- Dr. James Dickinson, Department of Psychological and Social Foundations of Education
- Dr. Dickinson served in the College of Education from 1966 to 1998. He also served as Interim Dean of the College of Education from 1971 to 1972 and USF Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs from 1972 to 1974.
- Dr. Harris Dean, Professor of Education
- Dr. Harris served as USF Dean of Academic Affairs. In 1970, he was appointed as the acting president of USF.
- Dr. Betty Epanchin, Department of Special Education
- Dr. Epanchin served the College of Education from 1989 to 2004. She was later appointed an associate dean in the College of Education, University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
- Dr. Donnie Evans, Department of Special Education
- Dr. Evans previously served in the Department of Special Education. After his tenure at USF, he was appointed to the positions of Director of Exceptional Child Education and later as Assistant Superintendent for the Hillsborough County School District. In 2006, he was appointed as Superintendent of the Providence Public Schools in Rhode Island.
- Dr. Carine Feyten, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
- Dr. Feyten served at the College of Education from 1988 to 2006. From 2003 to 2006, she served in the capacity of Associate Dean for Academic affairs. In 2006, she was appointed as Dean of the College of Education and Allied Professions at Miami University of Ohio.
- Dr. Leonard Lucito, Department of Special Education
- Dr. Lucito served in the College of Education from 1964 to 1967. In 1967, he was appointed director of the Bureau of Education for the Handicapped in the U.S. Office of Education.
- Dr. Marcia Mann, Department of Childhood Education
- Dr. Mann was appointed by Governor Lawton Chiles to serve as Secretary of the Florida Lottery in December 1990.
- Dr. Roy Mumme, Department of Psychological and Social Foundations of Education
- Dr. Mumme was appointed as the first dean of the USF Fort Myers campus and served from 1971 to 2000.
- Dr. Judith Ponticell, Chair, Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
- Dr. Ponticell was appointed as the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at the USF Lakeland Campus in 2005.
- Dr. Shirley Raines, Chair, Department of Elementary Education
- Dr. Raines served at the College of Education from 1992 to 1997. She later became Dean of the College of Education at the University of Kentucky. In 2001, she was appointed as President of the University of Memphis.
- Dr. Hilda Roselli, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs
- Dr. Roselli served at the College of Education from 1998 to 2003. She was later appointed as Dean of the College of Education of Western Oregon University.
- Dr. Edwin Steiner, Department of Secondary Education
- Dr. Steiner served as Chair of the Department of Secondary Education from 1970-1980. He also served as Associate Dean from 1980 to 1995 and Interim Dean in the College from 2001 to 2004, when he retired after 30 years of administrative service.
- Dr. Stuart Silverman, Department of Psychological and Social Foundations of Education
- Dr. Silverman served in the College of Education from 1968 to 1986. In 1986, he was appointed as Dean of the USF Honors Program and served in that capacity for over 18 years.
- Dr. Dorothy Sisk, Professor of Special Education
- Dr. Sisk served at the College of Education from 1967 to 1988. She later was appointed as a distinguished professor at Lamar State University in Texas.
- Dr. Les Tuttle, Department of Educational Leadership
- Dr. Tuttle served as Dean of the St. Petersburg Campus from 1968 to 1974. In 1975, he was appointed as the first dean of Academic Affairs of the Regional Campuses of St. Petersburg, Sarasota, and Ft. Meyers.
- Dr. Ed Uprichard, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs
- Dr. Uprichard served at the College of Education from 1977 to 1987. He later served in the capacities as Dean of the College of Education and Provost at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for over 10 years.
- Dr. Thomas Wilson, Library and Audio Visual Department
- Dr. Wilson was appointed as the director of the USF OPEN University Program in 1972 and served in that position until 2000.
