The impetus for the 50-Year History Project of the USF College of Education grew out of the interest expressed by retired faculty attending a luncheon in October 2005, hosted by Dean Colleen S. Kennedy. The sentiment expressed was that it was time to record the history of the College while those who lived it were available to tell the story so that the numerous accomplishments and contributions of the College’s administrators, faculty, staff, and supporters who worked tirelessly to advocate and provide for high quality, educational opportunities to students, teachers, and school administrators of all backgrounds would not be forgotten. It is the hope of those who have shared their stories that their experiences will serve as an inspiration to other individuals who wish to dedicate their careers to the field of education.
