PHASE 4: Maintenance

Purpose: to provide periodic student practice activities & teacher directed review of this skill after students have mastered it.

1. Calendar Time

Materials:

  • Straws or other objects that can be bundled
  • Boxes or cans for 1’s, 10’s and 100’s


Description:

Count the number of days in school by grouping straws into bundles of 10 as appropriate, and skip counting by tens.

2. Center Time

Materials:

  • Grab bags/envelopes of objects that are in groups of ten


Description:

Student will choose some bags and count the number of objects in them by skip counting. The number of bags to count can be assigned (e.g. take all the bags with a star or all the blue dot envelopes and count the objects) or chosen by the student.
