Between 1960 and 1968, the College hosted several national conferences on campus that focused on the pertinent issues of education of that time. Dean Battle made it a practice to host such events on the campus of USF to provide a forum for faculty, students, and educators to hear various points of view on issues and policies, as well as to help defray costs and make such events more accessible for individuals and organizations with limited budgets. This section focuses on the conferences that laid the foundation for the College of Education’s advocacy on behalf of public education.
