Introduction

The goal of the B.S. in Elementary Education Program is to create teacher leaders who possess a sound pedagogical teaching philosophy and practice as well as an inquiry stance that allows them to negotiate curriculum and instruction in ways that empower them to enhance all students’ learning.

The program is currently undergoing substantial revisions. Due to these revisions, we currently have two options from which students may choose. Both options offer a full state of Florida ESOL Endorsement for all Elementary Education graduates.

Elementary Teacher Residency Program

Our new Elementary Teacher Residency Program is a highly competitive program designed to develop the best teaching candidates for degrees in Elementary Education. The program features a faculty-mentored residency experience in which students’ coursework is embedded in field experiences with the partnership schools to include a focus on Inquiry, Inclusion, Innovation, and Integrated Literacy Instruction.

Elementary General Admission Program

Our current program of studies includes both coursework and three field experiences in elementary school settings to enable students to integrate theory with teaching practice.
