Comprehensive Exams

MAT students complete an inquiry-based professional development project to demonstrate their comprehensive learning in the MAT program. The comprehensive exams provide students with an opportunity to integrate their course and field experience while documenting their professional growth in their final two semesters in the program.

Reading Endorsement

Interested MAT students may opt to pursue the Reading Endorsement while simultaneously completing their MAT coursework. Students who choose this option must take four courses in addition to the reading courses in their MAT program of study. While MAT students can begin taking courses in the Reading Endorsement courses after successfully completed RED 6514, we recommend that these courses be taken near the end of your program. To pursue this option, MAT students must submit a letter to Lisa Adkins (lisaadkins@usf.edu) stating your intent to pursue the Reading Endorsement, your status as an MAT student, and your anticipated completion date. Students pursuing the Reading Endorsement should plan to complete the endorsement and the MAT program in the same semester.
