Freedom Quilt Squares

Objectives
- Students will identify the dangers faced by slaves on their journey to freedom.
- Students will observe the physical features of the land that the slaves traveled on their way to Canada.
- Students will design a quilt square to represent the journey of the slaves.
Procedure
- The class will read "Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt".
- Students will text in their thoughts on the dangers faced by slaves on their journey to freedom.
- The class will use the document camera to view the physical features of a map of the journey taken by the slaves on their way to freedom.
- Students will use Keynote to design their quilt square that represents the journey of the slaves.
